Local Anderson County Nurse Tapped for Industry's Highest Honors.
The National Guild of Hypnotists Select Ron Eslinger as Presenter of the Year

Ron Eslinger, Retired Navy Nurse Corps Captain, past president of the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and Board Certified Hypnotist was honored with the prestigious Ormond McGill Chair awarded by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) at their annual convention in Marlborough, Massachusetts on Saturday, August 13, 2005.

The prestigious Ormond McGill Chair award is named for Ormond McGill who has been called the Dean of American Hypnotists and whose career spans almost eight decades. The NGH has reserved this award for certified hypnotists who have shown innovation in promoting the science and philosophy of hypnosis while advancing its study and practice.

The NGH Annual Convention, Educational Conference and Exposition is the largest event of the National Guild of Hypnotists which has over 7,500 members. It draws thousands of professionals in the field from around the globe and is a 3-day weekend which offered over 250 seminars and workshops presented by more than 200 different speakers. In votes tabulated from last year's convention, Ron Eslinger was also picked as Presenter of the Year.

Ron's interest in hypnosis as an adjunct to anesthesia began soon after he graduated from the University Of Tennessee School of Nurse Anesthesia in 1974. He became a Board Certified member of NGH in 1978. His Navy Career included service aboard six navy ships and eight months with the U.S. Marines during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. His Navy positions included staff nurse anesthetist, Assistant Officer in Charge of the USNS Mercy, Assistant Department Head, Director USMC Medical Clinic Parris Island, S.C., and Director of Patient Services, Beaufort Naval Hospital. The U.S. Navy recognized and supported his expertise in hypnosis. He trained thousands of nurses in the uses of hypnotic techniques in nursing practice, and has certified more than 300 nurses in Clinical Hypnosis. He lectures extensively to nursing and medical organizations such as the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Association of Nurse Managers, American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Clemson University, and the Nurse Anesthesiology Faculty Association.

Ron is the owner of Healthy Visions Wellness Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where he continues both a clinical hypnosis practice and his school, which offers a Certification in Hypnosis through the National Guild of Hypnotists. Also available are certifications in Pain Management, Anger Management and Stress Management.
